Question
How do I connect and operate the CYCLE-TAP Dispenser?
Answer

The CYCLE-TAP dispenser is a stainless steel solvent dispense unit with a Teflon -lined hose designed for unmetered manual dispensing of solvent from the CYCLE-TAINER system. The dispenser is available with either a toggle valve for dispensing into laboratory containers, or with a needle connector to dispense into reaction vessels for oxygen or water sensitive applications. The CYCLE-TAP dispenser is available for use only with the CYCLE-TAINER solvent delivery system.

CYCLE-TAP Dispenser with Toggle Valve

CYCLE-TAP Dispenser with Toggle Valve The CYCLE-TAP dispenser with the toggle valve is the easiest and safest way to manage solvent needs for customers who routinely dispense unmetered volumes of solvent into laboratory containers such as graduated cylinders, flasks, beakers, and drums. The thumb operated toggle valve regulates solvent volume simply by pressing and releasing. This fully integrated system helps maintain the CYCLE-TAINER advantages of purity, safety, and waste management.

Features and Benefits

  • Fully assembled with color-coded Quick-Connect
  • Three-way valve for purging to ensure highest purity
  • Stainless-steel and Teflon components that are inert to solvents to maintain solvent quality
  • Safety armored, Teflon-lined, flexible hose with internal steel braiding that will not kink or puncture
  • 4, 10, and 15 foot hose lengths available
  • Thumb operated toggle valve with "hold-on" option for easy dispensing
  • Integrated hook for hanging the dispenser's outlet

Using the CYCLE-TAP Dispenser with Toggle Valve

With the attached color-coded Quick-Connect, users simply attach the dispenser to the solvent port on their CYCLE-TAINER system, turn the CYCLE-TAINER system solvent valve and CYCLE-TAP valve to the open position and dispense solvent by depressing the toggle lever. Releasing the lever immediately stops solvent flow. The flexible CYCLE-TAP hose allows the user to maneuver the solvent outlet to fill various containers quickly and easily.

CYCLE-TAP Dispenser with Needle Connector

The CYCLE-TAP dispenser with the needle connector was specifically designed for chemists performing reactions requiring the highest purity for controlled environments. This set up allows the chemist to dispense solvent directly to the reaction vessel through a septum without the risk of exposure to air. This is especially important in organometallic synthesis where the oxygen and water content are often detrimental to reactions. The needle connector is the ideal method to deliver low water and ultra low water solvents to their points of use.

  • Needle connector that fits standard needles

Using the Dispenser with Needle Connector

Attach the CYCLE-TAP dispenser hose to the CYCLE-TAINER system solvent port using the color-coded Quick-Connect. Connect a gas source to the three-way ball valve and attach an appropriate needle to the needle connector. To ensure the highest purity, purge the dispenser with gas by turning the three-way ball valve to the purge position. While purging, insert the needle into the reaction vessel and turn the three-way ball valve to the solvent flow position. After dispensing sufficient volume into the reaction vessel, terminate flow by closing either the three-way ball valve or the CYCLE-TAINER solvent valve.
